RPGA D&D 4th - Living Forgotten Realms

Postby IanQuentin on Sep 29th, '09, 6:18 am

Hi,

I've been organizing a regular RPGA - Living Forgotten Realms game on most Saturdays. The game uses D&D 4th edition rules. I'm moving the regular game to OrganizedPlay and I wanted to see if there would be other folks who would be interested in playing. Send me a PM or leave a message with the folks of OrganizedPlay if interested.

P.S. A friend of mine is looking to do the same with Pathfinder. Check out his post here.

I'm going to be running some introductory 4th edition Living Forgotten Realms adventures the next few Saturdays at OrganizedPlay. I'll be there at 1pm or so to help anyone with Character Creation if needed, and we'll start the game up sometime around 2 or 3pm. Feel free just to show up or shoot me a PM if you're interested but the timing is a little off for you.

Jay is a great DM. If you have been on the fence about trying D&D 4.0, this would be the time to do it. Jay can make any rules system fun to play. Except for Rifts. Even Jay couldn't save Rifts.

If you're not an early riser, definitely check out this worldwide shared campaign.

Hey, Jay. i think I used to play Living Greyhawk with you back at the Round Table a few years ago. Saturdays are crazy for me but we might cross paths at some point. I've just recently gotten into 4e and the thought of finding some LFR sounds good.

Currently, we've only been running level 1-4 stuff each Saturday, with the occasional extra table for higher level peeps.

So come out out whenever you like.

Cool, do I need to sign up with them, or just respond to the group e-mails as in the past?

Responding to the Yahoo! group e-mails would be great so I can get a better head count on things.

But really, all you need to do is just show up at the appointed time. 3pm on Saturday.

If you need an RPGA/DCI number, the store owner (Morgan) or I can provide you one.

Just wondered if this game was still going, if there's an open seat available, what level the party's at, where they're adventuring, and race/class composition. Basically I want to know the best toon to roll in order to help out the party and not step on toes. Thanks!

The game is absolutely still going.

Living Forgotten Realms (LFR) is a shared world campaign. Basically, group of players gather for a sessions of D&D all across the world playing in LFR adventures. I've been keeping a Saturday session at OrganizedPlay going for quite some time. People come to play at about 3pm (well, it's been more like 4pm lately) and we play a session.

The way LFR is set up, a group of players can show up to enjoy an adventure one week and the next week be a different group based on the players that arrive. Currently, I have about 4 regulars who tend to show up weekly and have had up to 12 players at a time. This past Saturday, we had 10 players split up in to 2 tables with a GM and 5 players each. Since characters can be different from session to session, I tend to tell people to simply play what they wish to play and things will tend to work out. Though admittedly not a lot of folks have been playing controllers. It's mainly a defender/striker fest with the occasional leader.

Everyone who plays LFR must begin a character at 1st level, however you level up approximately every 3 sessions of play. And each Saturday, I almost always run a game that allows for 1st level characters.

There are also other LFR games in the area as well where the groups of players are a bit more static, such as a Monday night game in Maryville and a Sunday morning game in Maryville. I'm also told one may be starting in Morristown in a few weeks.

Hope that answers things. You're welcome to swing by a Saturday and talk with me if you like.

Besides a PHB, do players need to have the PG2FR? And does the same character generation rules apply to the D&D Encounters?

Just what you need to play your character, which typically is just the PHB at bare minimum. You do not need the FRPG, though you can use it as well as just about any other WotC 4th Ed book there is. I have a PDF with the dieties and FR backgrounds listed in it should anyone wish to use it without having to buy the FRPG.

Same character creation rules apply to the current session of D&D Encounters.
