Hello Everyone,
Con Time! This is our formal announcement we have a new location and a date set for our next convention! Hampton Inn treated us great but we were outgrowing their room, so they recommended the next place for us! The new rooms are huge!
Our new location will be:
Best Western
420 N. Peters Road
Knoxville, TN 37922
Hotel Telephone (865) 539-0058
MAP To Best Western
What you can look forward to is two large rooms, 33 ft x 26 ft each, to be exact. There will be a tournament or two, the East TN Boardgamers will be joining us, a dealer or two, free tables, end of the night drawing(s), everyone's favorite closest swap area, DM's ready to showcase their systems, and, of course, free food and drinks.
We're taking the necessary next step in growing our convention to have room for more people while doing our best to keep the costs down. With this in mind, the entrance fee will be raised to $15, CASH ONLY at the door.
Also, please bring snacks and drinks for your fellow gamers. This has had great support the past few Cons and I know it will be the same for this one coming up. Please bring only store bought items.
Unlike last time, there will be a corner bar area where we will be selling homemade snacks, such as brownies, cupcakes, and other goodies. These will be sold at reasonable prices (~$1.50 or less each).
I'm taking DM reservations for this con and I've already had a couple people sign up already! We're going to have 6 scheduled tables so we're going to need 12 people to DM. I'm looking for mainstream games along with relative uncommon games. Send me a PM if you would like to DM a table for a session. I'll announce the list of games as we get closer to the event date.
We'll be announcing more details as the date gets closer so keep checking back here for more details.
If you know you are going to come, please signup using the meetup.com/knoxgamers site.
As always, we're open to suggestions for your con!
Take care,
Kagan Clearwater

Sounds great, I'm there! It's a bit early to commit to anything yet but I might want to run a game of the new HackMaster.

Anybody want to play in a fun, friendly, Computer-approved, fun, non-treasonous and fun (fun is mandatory) session of Paranoia XP? If so Friend Computer will authorize me to promote between 3.3 and-6.124 loyal citizens to a high enough security clearance to participate.
Just gauging potential interest before I request a table.

I'll jump into the Paranoid game. Let's just make sure it doesn't conflict with the EC game I may be running. I think we have plenty of time to sort this all out before the Con.

Certainly don't want to conflict because I want to get in the EC action myself.

Thinking about Star Wars roleplaying; I'm hooked from our last con. We'll see how it plays out, complete with props.
D and D may be a fallback, maybe second session, if I can manage it.

I will see about getting the rest of Chainsaw Buffet gang to come. If we do, can we record a podcast from the con? We've done similar things for Kajonk-A-Con and MTAC.

I like your Chainsaw Buffet site. I even have an account over there. But I've found the site's not coded for Mozilla. It's all good I'll just have to quit being lazy, for a bit, and flip on the ol' Internet Explorer.

I will be running at least one game but I am uncertain as to what everyone may be interested in playing. So time for a quick poll:
WFRP
Weapons of the Gods (think wire kung-fu action)
Stargate (savage worlds style)
Rogue Trader (warhammer 40k rpg)
Deadlands
Feel free to pm me with your preferences (whether you plan on playing or not)

Actually, the site works fine in Firefox. It also AFAIK works under Opera, too. Don't know about Chrome or Safari, though.

Wish I could come, but I'll likely be out of town on that date. Hope things go great.

Who is Chainsaw Buffet? I looked briefly at the site, but if you guys think they would be good for a little con, fine with me.

Chainsaw Buffet is a geek culture and humor site; we do reviews, commentary, podcasts, and a little bit of everything. Previously we did gaming stuff under the TVGA banner, but we've decided to discontinue the name, because we realized that we had attended more conventions and done more publicity for Chainsaw Buffet than we did as TVGA. Right now we've got a new set of forums, but there are some things we're working on doing (like a site revamp/relaunch) before they go public. (So expect some of us to migrate here for stuff the public might be interested in - the old TVGA boards are dead since we moved and I don't think anyone uses them.)
As for what we'd do for the con, I was thinking it'd be similar to what we did at Kajonk-a-Con - get some general interviews with the people running the con, do a podcast and talk to the people attending. In general, see what we can do to get your guys some free publicity. And for us, we get content for the site.
How much does a table cost?
