Three Rivers Con, June 6, Noon - ~10

Three Rivers Con, June 6, Noon - ~10

Postby Kagan on Mar 6th, '09, 9:37 pm

Now that we got the first con under our belt, we're going to shoot for another one June 6, 12- ~10 pm. This will be like our first one, as we're asking for everyone to chip in and bring snacks for your fellow gamers.

We'll have 5 tables this time around and we'll place one big pizza order around 4:30 or 5:00 pm. Like last time, pizza and drinks are on us.

The entrance fee will be a flat $10. CASH ONLY!

Location will be the same, Hampton Inn on Executive Park Drive, off of the North Cedar Bluff exit.

Though (the con) was a cool name for our first con, it was also registered to someone else and didn't reflect our community. As we were brainstorming, three rivers area came up and that seemed to fit us nicely. I hope you agree.

I already have 4 DM's lined up to showcase their systems. What I am missing is someone to run a 4th Edition game. That last slot open is for you! If you are interested in running a 4th edition game, send me a PM.

Tell your friends and bring them along. We had a great time last time and I want to see even more people show up.

Feel free to post any suggestions,
Kagan

Hey everyone,

I've got the Con posted in the meetup.com if you would like to preregister. While there is no discount for signing up early, it will help us estimate what food and drinks we will be bringing.

I'll be posting who will be DM'ing and what systems will be run later on in the week. Please show your support for your Con!

Are all the games going to be role playing again, or is someone running something else also?

I'd love to try out some new minis or boardgames. It would be nice if we could get the local wargaming and boardgaming clubs involved with the con.

I'm interested in joining in on a 4e D&D game. I only played it a couple of sessions when the game was first released. I'd like to see how an experienced DM runs combat.

You guys want some boardgames or minis? Sure. What is out there that 5-6 people can play? Would one of you guys like to run it?

I may have an offer for this, let me first see if I have enough for that many people. Has anyone heard of Pirates of the Spanish Main? I picked up some at Fear the Con (which I still need to post about). They are no longer produced but widely available online.

I've got a little of the Pirates stuff somewhere if you need it. I also have a ton of Mechwarrior Dark Age pieces, and can easily pair down the rules so that new players can jump right in (I play with my son and nephew from time to time who are 9 and 13.) Also have a lot of Battletech pieces, Memoir '44 (best for 2 players only), Axis and Allies, Epic 40k (own it but have never actually played it, so if someone else knows has experience with it would be better), Federation commander. Except for Memoir, those are good for 4-5 people.

If you need someone to run one, I'd be glad to.

Personally, I'd love to sit in on a game of any of these:

Descent
Doom
Runebound
Classic Battletech
Flames of War

Has anyone ever played Supremacy? It was published in the late 1980s and is now out of print.

I'll be running a Classic Battletech game. I'll be using level one rules and will need 1-6 players.

I'm still working on the general outline of the game, but so far I think it will be a 3 mission campaign, with an invading force and a defender.

I'll try to get some mini's painted up and ready, as well as lots of Xmarx terrain :)
